I take it that you don't like football then Richard. Why is that?
Very simple - it's an utterly pointless and boring waste of time (can't bring myself to call it a game).
I am not a great football supporter but I have to admit to be taken to Chelsea v ??? (a german team and the name has just slipped my memory) and thoroughly enjoying it. The fans were fun and the German supporters kept asking if we would swop my daughters scarf with one of theirs. Apparently that is their tradition, but seeing as we had only just bought the scarf, she was not keen to part with it. It amazes me the cost of tickets though, can they really justify it? It is certainly not a treat I could do often although the whole family had a great time.
Yes, tickets are getting VERY expensive now-a-days. Season tickets are a good way of saving lots of money on ticket prices.
I hate to be a pain but i am afraid i am with Wildcanon on this one,to see them all jumping up and down hugging and kissing each other because they kick a ball in a net errrrrrrrrrrrrrr
sorry footy fans x
Hey don't worry about it. People are quite fragile who play football, i.e Diddier Drogba, that diving *"@#~(*&

Lots of people have the same views of wildlife or bird watching! Open minds to other peoples enjoyments please! Im very passionate about supporting my team. I enjoy the social aspect of meeting my friends at the game, the atmosphere with the opposing fans and the elation at goals and winning the game. A great way to spend a saturday afternoon. Very much the same feeling i get when out birding, the social aspect, the atmosphere at a rare bird twitch or the elation at finding a rarity or seeing something spectacular in wildlife. What might be an utterly boring waste of time to one, might not be to another!
Happy Hammers fan here. Have a lot of understanding for anyone who rates the game as 'utterly pointless and boring waste of time'. I've left many a match thinking that exact thought

Still, it looks like we're safe from relegation this year (fingers crossed).
Yeah, Southend are in 9th at the moment, so I think we are safe.

Um, can I say England? I'm not that hot on football, but if I had to pick a team I'd go with manchester united. (mostly because I know a few names from that team!

)
Wey!!! We beat you 1-0!!!! Ha!

(i don't mean to be a boaster you know)
And we've beaten Man U 3 times out of 3, but I'll leave it there as I fully expect them to give us a real hiding next time we play

.
My theory on football is that it's always better to support one of the lesser teams because if you beat the likes of Man U, Chelsea or Arsenal it's a major cause for celebration and you can relive it for seasons to come. If however, you support Man U, Arsenal or Chelsea, you always expect to win so can never attain the same level of excitement - you just feel worse when you lose.
Well said Timberwolf. I also support Southend becasue they are local
I see your lot lost there mid week Jamie! We won 2-0 away again. Still in 2nd spot and we play Leeds at our ground today!
Well you would have, but it was prosponed becasue of a frosty pitch. Good luck with them, we beat them 1-0 last time we met.
Southend United won 2-1 at home to Bournemouth today, with a winning debut goal from James Lawson.
