While I was on a bike ride at the River Crouch, I witnessed an absolutely amazing sight.
I and about 6 other people saw a flock of about 200 or so Brent Geese come flying over the horizon, and landed in the water right in front of me. Something then scared them, and they all took flight, and all 200 of them flew really low right over my head. It was absolutely amazing!
I could hear them making that 'ronk' noise as they were flying, and also the sound of 400 wings flapping about 10 feet over my head! It was breathtaking!
Here are some images I took this morning:

Lovely shots...truely amazing sight, I've seen brents before but never that many together!!
Yes I was absolutely amazed when they came over the horizon, I thought it was a huge flock of Starlings at first, but I then realised it wasn't when they all went into the water!
A wonderful sight i bet Jamie! they have been here now for a few weeks, and although i dont think there was the amount you saw, i had the pleasure of seeing them taking off from the Brandy Hole end of the river and go in land to graze on the fields as the tide had then gone right out, as you say breathtaking....great images, thanks for showing.
Thats OK Tawny. 200 was only a rough guess, but I reckon there was that many.
Great pictures, it must have been an amazing sight to see them all in flight.
I bet it was a great experience Jamie, and to get some shots fantastic. I have never seen Brent, plenty of Canada round my way though.

Chris.
Yes I usually go to Hanningfield Resevoir to feed the brents and the ducks and other waterfowl. THere are usually Canada Geese there, and some Brent, but not that many.
I bet they were making a racket!
Yes it was quite noisy!
