I saw an advert yestreday, can't even remember which channel, but it was a man who lives on his own, in the middle of nowhere, and likes to eat badgers that have been killed on the road!
I remember reading before that some people like to eat roadkill, but squashed badgers seems pretty strange to me. The advert ended with him picking up a dead badgers from the road and carrying it off and it almost made me feel sick!
I can't remember the name of the program, has anyone else seen the adverts?
I haven't seen the advert and don't think I want to! It sounds very strange, but then again I've never tried badger so maybe it's delicious. I can't imagine it is though....

I see nothing wrong with roadkill, i have had a few Pheasants this way, not squashed that is.
I have heard of people eating Badgers, and my Gran has an old book with a few Badger recipes. I believe you have to soak the meat for a while first. If you are cooking a leg you only use the right leg. Badgers are left handed making the meat tough. Personally, Badgers are a bit to stinky i think i would give them a miss myself

The programme is on Tomorrow 23 Jan on BBC2W at 9.50pm. Its called Wonderland. The bloke eats anything he finds by the look of it, Cats, Owls, Squirrels....... Looks interesting
P.S The progrmme contains very strong language.

Did you know that if you hit a Pheasant on the road and it dies, you cannot pick it up and eat it, because that would be seen as man-slaughter.
But the person in the car behind you is legally allowed to pick up the dead bird and eat it for tea!

Jamiewade, that's very interesting if true, but wouldn't it have to be a man to be manslaughter?
On a side note, I was quite relieved when I came into the thread as a "badger eating a man" wouldn't have been a pleasant sight!
Well!! Anyone else watch the programme. It killed my pig after about Ten minutes, so i turned it off.
Its not manslaughter, jamie. Its something to do with poaching. I doubt very much you would get prosecuted for it to be fair. Not in the public interest.
I think the programme was a mixture of interest, total amazement and above all saddness, this chap was being hounded by idiots who thought it funny to plague him with indescent, foul phone calls, his wife locked herself away in her bedroom as she didnt agree with what he was doing, and didnt want to be filmed, but yet he kept his freezer constantly full with dead animals, being.....badgers, otter, barn owl, pheasants etc, of which he ate without a second thought, and when asked if he had eaten cat (as he had a pet cat) he claimed not lately, although he had in the past!!!...i watched the whole of the programme but was left with very mixed feelings on this chap and his way of life and thought.
If i was in a better frame of mind i may have watched it all. Did they show anymore of that bloke who prowled the Moors. I saw up untill he said he was an expert tracker?

Hmmm.... makes you wonder doesnt it! yes he kept appearing throughout the programme
alongside the two farmers that live in absolute squaller and wonder why they cant get a woman!!!! I watched it throughout as i really didnt realise that folk like these exist it certainly portrayed how the other half live
