Good luck to these trout! They are in a farm and have been attempting to escape through a water pipe that is suspended above the pond. It is their nature to try and jump up streams, so seeing the running water it is instinctive for them to try and swim up the pipe. Unfortunately the owner says that he would be surprised if more than a few made it, but it makes for a brilliant photo!

Yes , we saw that also. What a great photo & good Luck to the trout!!
It's a brilliant photo, at first glance it looks like the fish are being very cunning in their escape plan but it is just their instinct to jump for running water. Good luck to them though, as the article says it must be stressful for them living in that pond where they cannot escape from predators.
I feel sorry for the poor things but I suppose it is no different to any other type of farmed animal really. I bet the photographer couldn't believe his luck when he saw what they were doing!

I think if I was the farmer I would put something over the pipe, as it wouldn't surprise me if some actually were making it out!
Astonishing photo, I wonder how long the pipe has been there and how many fish have escaped overall?
