Hooray! Mid morning today.

Have been waiting for one of these for donkeys years!
Hello Jolanta, welcome to Wildlife UK!

Did the Marsh Tit sing for you?

Were you lucky and quick enough to take photos?

Kingfisher
Hi Jolanta, welcome to the forums.

Congratulations on seeing the Marsh Tit, it's always a wonderful feeling to see a bird you've been waiting for for a while!
Negative on the photo. Cameras and I do not get on - but I do know the difference between this species and others, never fear. Far too neat and tidy to be a Willow.
I know who you feel with cameras! I don't get on with them either, but I quite often wish I did when I see the perfect oppurtunity for a photograph. I do have a cheap digital camera but nothing special.
Congratulations! I dont mean to be one to spoil the celebrational mood, but are you sure is was a Marsh Tit? It could have been a coal tit. Icon_rolleyes
Oh I think you would know a Marsh Tit when you saw them - just make sure it's not a Willow Tit lol - even if you could take a picture of the Marsh it'll be hard - I have them here in my garden & they're so hard to take pictures of - in & out in a flash!

Congrats from me too! And welcome to the forum Icon_smile

While it can be very difficult to differentiate between a marsh tit and a willow tit, a coal tit is easily identified. Where the marsh and willows have totally black crowns and napes, the coal has that white patch on the nape and a more reddish look to its flanks.

Well you learn something everyday! I didn't know how to differentiate between the two so thanks for that. I can safely say I've never had a marsh tit in my garden.....yet.
Re: Marsh Tit.

Did you ever estasblish whether this was Marsh or Willow tit? Where do you live Jolanta, if you dont mind me asking?

Oh right. I don't see those birds anyway, so I can't do a comparison

Marsh Tit and Willow Tit are quite localized. We have very few places in Cornwall that have Willow Tit, but lots of Marsh Tits.
Well you are very lucky to get such marvelous birds
