They're presumably from a carnivore, and the degree of discolouration suggests (?) an adult rather than a juvenile, but beyond that I'm struggling. They don't look like fox, judging from what I can find online. Any animal dentists out there?! Many thanks, Richard
Hello Richard, Welcome to Wildlife UK!
I think you could have molars from a deer there.

hi
i think they are deer teeth as well. i found the bottom half of a jaw which i was reliably informed was a deer and it looks exactly like your teeth.
Thanks for your suggestions. I shall go and do some internet searching for deer teeth. My thought that they might be from a carnivore was based on their sharpness and "pointiness", but I'm obviously just guessing. Anyway, just off now for a walk in Ashridge Forest so may well see some deer in the flesh!
I would guess deer teeth too. This reminds me of the article posted here a while ago abou the teeth of medium sized cats being found in britain, perhaps it's a puma?

Puma teeth are HUGE--the canines can be as long as one and a half inches long. I would not want one biting me!

I've never seen a puma or its teeth in the flesh, but I can say with quite high certainty that those teeth are not from one

Just come across this thread. They look like sheeps teeth to me. Lots of them in the Brecon Beacons are there not! I've seen plenty of dead sheep in the Yorkshire dales and i think thats what they are.
for a great skull website check out
http://www.skullsite.co.uk
It is a really fantastic resource and even has a key to the skulls. Normally there are good views of the teeth
I am working on a skull collection myself. Having completed a badger, my current project is a mole!
I had a fantastic skull collection once. Over 40 different birds and animals. I moved in with a mate of mine and hile we were out one day his terrier chewed them all up!!!
sometimes dogs come into my work - always fun to send them out with part of an animal skeleton and wait a few minutes for the owner's reaction........
