I had great fun looking around the Autumn watch website today. There are lots of clips from last year, the deers rutting is especially good to watch, fascinating stuff. There also some information on what wildlife to watch out for this time of year and loads of other interesting little bits.

The new series starts on November the 7th which I think it a bit late, there is loads going on in the world of wildlife right now, but I can't wait! I love how the animals they film personalities come out through the series. The great stories that unwind through the Autumn or the spring with the different animals makes it compelling viewing. Is anyone else a fan?
Yes another fan here - although not as much as Spring Watch.
Nothing to do with the season, but rather that I thought that Autumn Watch had a lot of padding, small amount of content stretched way too far. I had had enough of both Simon King and the Deer by the end of the last series - nothing to do with Simon himself, just repetatitve filming of nothing new happening.
Another fan here, but I have to agree with Chascreek that I much prefered Springwatch which seemed to come to an end far too early. Whilst I enjoyed Autumnwatch, I also felt that there was a lot of padding, with the same footage being shown over a number of nights (especially of the deer). Also, I'm not greatly turned on by geese
and felt that too much time was devoted to them. November does seem a bit late, especially given the early start to Autumn this year, so I'll be interested to see how the program differs from last year. Still, if all else fails, I can aways sit there with a warming glass of something suitable and watch Kate Humble

Mind there is the other option of 'sitting there with a warming Kate Humble and a glass of something cold'! 
Is it me or is Simon King irritating??? He bores me to death , when he comes on I go to the loo or go to top my glass up. No wonder the corncrake was a no show, Simon must have bored it to death..........
I have to agree and say I prefer springwatch, but maybe this series will surprise us. I'm sure this series starts later than usual, perhaps they've decided it's a better time for it. I haven't noticed Simon King being
that annoying, maybe I'll notice it now it's been pointed out though
I think the problem with Simon King is that he tries desperately to make an ordinary event sound far more interesting than it really is, which begins to grate when you've seen the same thing on all the previous nights. I wonder if that's why they always banish him to the middle of nowhere.
Love the idea of all the corncrakes hidding and asking each other, 'Has he gone yet?'
Much prefer the idea of a warming Kate Humble. What did Bill Oddie ever do to deserve so much luck?

I got to agree with Timberwolf , perhaps he does try too hard or is it they give him the rubbish jobs????
I always admired his photography where he took photos of dawn in a variety of places , most of all the New Forest. Perhaps that's why he is boring , he spent too much time on his own. I take it that I am right & it is the same Simon King????
I have to admit, I didn't watch much of springwatch or autumn watch, mostly because I can't stand Bill Oddie. I find his inane comments and constant interrupting of Kate to be VERY annoying, he always got to be the centre of attention.
Have to say I enjoyed Autumn Watch last year. Maybe they're trying it a little later this year to catch the wild swans returning. Last year, if I remember, they were late leaving their summer grounds, and so didn't get to feature much. I guess as a 'live' wildlife programme 'them's the breaks'. You never know what you're going to get. I liked following the Red Deer rut on Rum, and hearing about the geese too.
Simon King boring? Au Contraire, mes ami. And hands off Bill Oddie too, I think you'll find he's just very enthusiastic. (And he started the whole thing off).
I hope the official Autumnwatch Board will be kept for wildlife talk, and not degenerate into personal remarks on the presenters. I couldn't believe some of the comments on the Springwatch one earlier this year - people need to take that kind of stuff elsewhere.
I didn't read the official boards but that's terrible that people started talking about the presenters. The odd one can be a bit over the top and even annoying when watched for too long, but they are all very enthusiastic about wildlife which is what the show is about after all.
You would think that the BBC of all people would be able to hire someone to be moderator if they're going to have a message board!

I have heard a lot of regular birders having a go at Mr Oddie when I have been at reserves, but I still like him and programmes like Springwatch have got a lot of people into wildlife.
