Just in case anyone thought the UK was swamped with EGSs, this is a photograph from my trip to Eastern Washington:



The creature on the far left is a ground squirrel, the one in the middle is one species of chipmunk, and the two on the right are another species of chipmunk!

If I had encountered any true squirrels here, they would have been Western Grey Squirrels, not the EGS.

I think that chipmunks are much better looking than EGS, I'd rather see them around here for purely aesthetic reasons!
It's always interesting to see the differences between here and your state Kingfisher. I agree with Bill the chipmunks are definitely cuter than EGS!
This very young and obviously inexperienced GS was having a terrible time trying to get away from me, it first tried climbing the tree, but fell off, then tried again, but obviously was scared of heights because it climbed down again and decided to run away instead. I just stood, watched, took some pics and laughed. Even my dog was bemused and didn't chase it.
