I was fortunate enough to be at work during the recent total lunar eclipse which took place here in Washington state, in the US. Apparently this eclipse was also viewed in Australia.
How many of us have seen a total lunar eclipse? How many have seen a total solar eclipse?
I have never seen a total solar eclipse, and this total lunar eclipse was the first one I have seen.

There was a lunar eclipse that was viewable here near the start of the year, and luckily there were clear skies for once. It is amazing how red the moon goes, you can see why the ancients thought that there was something mysterious going on when it happened.
I saw a solar eclipse a few years ago we just happened to be in France as we were travelling we stopped in an area but had to watch it on the bonnet of the car, other daft people were watching it through these free paper glasses from the newspapers.
Hi
I was fortunate to be one of those who witnessed the total solar eclipse in 1999. We were on the Lizard in Cornwall, camping there especially to see the eclipse. On the day of the eclipse, it was grey and overcast until about 5 minutes before the event, when a hole opened in the clouds allowing us a view of the eclipse. This hole stayed there until a couple of minutes after it was all over. Were we lucky or not!!!
Here is one of the pictures, it's a scan of a slide, done by a friend who hasn't cleaned the slide very well, so please excuse the squiggles:
In April this year, we had a total lunar eclipse. This pic was digiscoped from my driveway:

You were VERY lucky to see the total solar eclipse. My husband and I were discussing the total solar eclipse which took place 11 July, 1991 in Hawaii. For virtually everyone there, the eclipse was a bust, due to clouds.
Your photo of the UK April lunar eclipse is similar to what I witnessed this Tuesday. What a wonderful sight! I was pleased that I was able to time my lunch hour so as to be able to see this, and that we did not have rain
