A friend was out walking last night and came across several glow worm, one of which was brought to my house today to show me. I've been told exactly where it was found so I'm going to put it back tommorrow, hopefully tonight I will get a picture of it glowing. I thought you might all be interested in seeing it!

Thanks for posting the pic, I still haven't seen a glow worm in the wild yet so this is as close as I've got!
Did you get a picture of it glowing last night?
Thanks for that. I've only ever seen them glowing in the dark and had no idea what one actually looked like.
Can't wait for the glowing pic also...Remind me a bit like a ladybird larvae
Sorry to disappoint, but the glowing picture didn't turn out too well, it just looks like a small green blob. I apologise for my lack of photography skills! If there is a demand for it I will post it but I'm not sure it is worth it

If it's not too much effort I for one would like to see it
Did you manage to find the spot to put it back ok?

I would also like to see it. It wouldn't hurt to post it, and it's something I have never seen.

Ok, no problem
Here it is, very greenish almost neon glow. Actually, does anyone know how they create their glow?

Do they not mix chemicals like the glow stiks that boatmen/ravers use?
Thanks for posting it riana. I believe they do create their glow through mixing two chemicals as rowena says, I can't remember which two they were though. I remember hearing that glow worms convert energy to light in an extremely efficient way, much more efficient than light bulbs for example.
Great pic but I looked at in the gallery before. Even my youngest was well impressed. Thankyou for that.
riana, it's almost like modern art!
Thanks for putting it up

Send it to the tate modern, you never know what it could be worth!
I love the brilliant green colour to the glow, what an amazing creature.
Fascinating creatures. The seemingless endless variety in the faces (or in this case, bottoms) of nature is truly incredible. Thanks for the pic, which shows just how impressive the glow is in the dark.
Thanks for the photo! It is so wonderful to see how diverse the creatures in our world are, it almost makes you think it couldn't have happened by accident!
