So cute Yogi..its funny cos i had a Smudge too and of my 4 cats she was most timid..so opposite of your Smudge. Have you any idea where they came from? Will you be taking them all on,having them neutered etc?
Well yesterday OH and myself were going to be going to the hawk conservancy..but got up too late as we want to be there for opening time so we get to see everything, all the displays, feeding the red kites etc.
So..please keep your fingers crossed that if the weather is ok we are going tomorrow now.
Anyway we did get out yesterday..we were just going to a nearby town to a shop there but ended up eating fish and chips up on one of the white horses. We get easily sidetarcked.OH wanted to go and stand on its eye..it was blowing a gale but he got within a few inches of it..couldnt quite take the last step as it was so windy he would probably have found himself bouncing down the hill..the dog had no reservations though and scrambled past him straight onto its eye.
Then we went for a drive round the plain as we had heard its a good place to see Merlins. Didnt see any but we did see several deer..including a youngster right near the roadside. Also saw 2 kestrels,a buzzard, rabbits and a barn owl.
Forgot to tell you also the other day i saw my first green woodpecker in the field next to us..unfortunately it was dead. So not good. OH also found a dead tawny owl a couple of days ago..he moved it off the road.

Well Tass, we believe they were born wild in our garden under the hedge by the pond as that's where we first saw them. We couldn't get anywhere near them as they are ferral. Na, won't be getting them neutered, as far as we're concerned they're wild and they'll come and go as they want and we'll feed them in the mean time. The winter is a worrying time though as at the moment we keep the door open. Smudge did feed out of my uvver arfs hand last night.
I've been to The Hawk Conservancy - many years ago though. Great place which has probably improved since I was last there in the 80s.
Ah, the Green Woodpecker. We drove around STANTA in Norfolk a couple of years ago and saw flocks and flocks of them. Last time I saw one though was on a bottle of cider.
Yogi.
Hi Yogi..do you have maybe a shed or somewhere you could put a box, blanket etc for them in winter? Or you could put a catflap in for winter when you wont want to leave the door open? Then they can come and go as they are now.
Yeah..cant wait to go tomorrow..another place we are hoping to go soon is the great bustard project up on salisbury plain.

Just had a look at The Hawk Conservancy Trust - it looks really great but too far from us I fear. Hope you enjoy it Tass.

We got the (open fronted) summer house down by the pond. And both back doors to conservatory and kitchen have cat flaps already, however, I just can't see them using a cat flap as they are very nervous. If they get cat flap trained though in the future the one to the kitchen will be getting super glued.

Our "Open Fronted" summer house down by the pond, not long after we moved in. The bold patch on the grass has gone now.
This bold patch is the patch I've spoken about where the previous owner had fires and used some sort of fuel that leaked in the pond.
Remember that Yogi..it left an oily film on your pond i recall.
Is that a catbed in the middle of the summerhouse? The pink triangle?
Gill...yes,we have wanted to go for ages..did you see the owls by moonlight event they do? Cant wait to afford that as a special treat for OH.

Getting ready to go off as soon as I finish work tomorrow. Was going to sort out the motorhome this evening, but too wet, so Mrs WC will have to do it tomorrow. I'm closing the shop a bit earlier than usual, so that we can get away, going to Bromsberrow, near Malvern to the Camping and Caravan Club Photogroup annual exhibition meet. We've each got several prints in the competition, so wish us good luck!
Good luck WC and Mrs WC!!!
I certainly do wish you good luck - not that you need it with your photographic skills. How long are you staying for - just the BH weekend or a longer break?
Gill
Lots and lots of luck WC...am sure you will do great from the pics we have seen. Do you realise you have won the majority of the competitions here?
Have a wonderful time and look forward to more pics on your return.

Coming back Monday, sadly, as I have to open the shop on Tuesday morning.
Thanks for all your good wishes. We're up against some very tough competition, there are some very good photographers in the CCC group, but as usual it comes down to the judge, but don't start me on photographic judges or I'll be here all night!!!!
Hi Mr and Mrs WC
Good look for the weekend photographic competition, I am certain you both have the talent to do well.
All the best to you both

We still get an oily film from time to time.
Thats a folded over bag of compost Tass. That photo was taken over a year ago.
