May i suggest having a 'Sea Life' thread. I know Whales etc are covered by the Mammals but i just noticed a post in 'off topic' about a Turtle. There has also been mention of Basking Sharks on a post too.

I think these would be covered under the Birds, Mammals and insects threads already. If we have a garden Wildlife thread then we will lose posts in the other threads i mentioned, don't know if you agree? You could always start a 'Garden Birds' thread in the 'Birds' thread or a 'Garden Mammals' in the 'Mammals' thread?
How about a forum for the plants, wildflowers, trees, shrubs, fungi, etc.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. With regards to the turtle post, sea life comes under the topic of water life so I will move that post to the water life forum. I do agree that it would be best to have a separate sea and freshwater forums, but at the moment I don't think there are enough posts on the subject to warrant it. The wildlife and birds in the garden can also be posted in the respective forums, but you are right that wildflowers don't have a clear section to go in, apart from maybe the UK countryside forum.
I'll have a think about adding a forum for wildflowers, trees etc as you suggest, I think it's a good idea provided there is enough interest.

Wildflowers a fascinating subject when you start to identify. I find interesting how they used to be used in herbal treatments and to identify edible species. This can very handy knowledge if your a outdoors type iv used treatments for differing injuries myself and eaten as i walked. Also plants wildflowers etc can be used as good indicator species of certain habitats concerning age and health of areas etc. This helps in pin pointing potential conservation areas. Even hedges can be aged according to species orthough iv found different systems excist for this info.
As wild flowers are my particular interest, I would agree that they should have their own forum.
May I add another suggestion? How about a separate area on the gallery for pics that are to be posted into a reply, where there is no need for them to go into a particular gallery. There would be no need for all the titles etc that goes into putting an image on the gallery. An instance of this would be the image of a newt that I posted some time ago. It really wasn't good enough for the gallery, but was relevant to the thread.
