Cheers wildhog, trevella lake is one of the lakes at the holiday park i work at, in newquay cornwall.

What a beautiful place ,Wayne - and I love your pics.

Do you think the orchid might be the Common Spotted Orchid. There are so many of these beauties and they do tend to look very similar.
Hi.Wayne.

hi cetti
Don't think they're common spotted as they have no spots on the leaves, we have hundreds of this particular species all around the lakes and even other areas away from the lakes.

cheers

cheers all for your replies Icon_cheesygrin

got loads of other photos from around the lakes but they take me ages to reduce the file size and post, but will put some more on. thanks for the positive input.
You're absolutely right wayne, no spots.

Shows how much I know, doesn't it? Icon_wink

hi cetti
thanks for the id on the moth, thought it may have been a hawkmoth and looked on uk moths website but still managed to miss the eyed hawkmoth cheers. Phragmites australis is also known as the common reed, It grows to about 2m high it can be fairly invasive if not kept in check. It is also a great natural filtration system for lakes, streams and rivers etc as it absorbs great amounts of nutrients that leach into the water from the surrounding catchment area

heres a couple more photos, sorry there all close ups but cameras not good enough to get some shots of the birds etc, but will do sometime.
