Yesterday my friend said something had been on the news about somewhere being closed  because of an Eagle Owl , she thought it might be the one in Bolton (previous thread)  I searched in the internet & found the story. It is at Dunsop Bridge in the Trough of Bowland.

The video clip is the one entitled 'the eagle has landed'

On the search there are quite a few who have escaped which came as a shock to me. So you see that they may well start to get a foothold in the countryside with what implications I do not know.
Well, they were native a few hundred years ago. Perhaps the Eagle Owls can work on catching all those cheeky Grey Squirrels?

As an aside, I had no idea that the UK had been invaded by 'chainsaw scuptors'--I thought that kind of thing was strictly an Americanism Icon_biggrin .

Kingfisher
Yes, I have known about them for a about 10 years but they are still not common as I know of.
I really don't see how anyone can let something like an Eagle Owl escape! It is beyond belief. I guess it is when the bird has been trained and the owner is confident enough that it will come back, but people keeping non-native species like the Eagle owl should really be more responsible. Maybe they should be licensed?
I would have thought that they were licensed. Are they not?
