Hi there
I need some help as my cat brought home a baby bird. Thankfully not injured. I cannot locate the nest. I'm no expert and cannot identify the little one. I am trying to locate a wildlife/bird rehabillitator of sorts or anyone that can take care of this bird. I am in Ross-on-Wye , Herefordshire. I would appreciate if some one can point me in the right direction.
Thank you
To keep it going either buy some maggots or preferably meal worms.
Feed by using tweezers, first dip meal worm in cod liver oil & then calcium powder (as in grated cuttlefish or other proprietry brand from pet shop).
Use cod liver oil & then water alternately. Put baby bird in some sort of nest I used bread basket lined with kitchen roll & place on hot water bottle. Cover baby bird with piece of kitchen roll & only lift up to feed. I raised 2 baby wrens like this after advice from bird rescue sanctuary near me.They need feeding every 3 hours even during the night.

Use internet I have found :Athene Bird Sanctuary, Hereford - Tel: 01432 273259 ..
or
http://www.herefordowlrescue.co.uk
or
seek advice from:Ted Dowling, 22/23 Commercial Road , HEREFORD , HR1 2BD
Ph: 01432 352865 .
If these cannot help you they might know someone who can as there is usually a network.

Keep us posted , Good Luck
Hi clueless, tibbar has given some very good advice there. Good luck, let us know how the bird gets on.
Yes please do.
Hang on a minute!! Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but it is JANUARY and as far as i'm aware we dont have baby birds in the ~UK in january?? Thats probably why you cant find a nest! What sort of bird is it?

Stiil good advice about the bird hospital type place.

Err, strange this, because the original post seems to be dated 23rd May 2007, so why has it suddenly appeared again?

Becasue it was on the last post and I felt sorry for it, so I just posted on it! Tee-hee!
