At what time of year do the daddy long legs start coming out enmasse to pester us and force us to leave our windows shut? I ask because I'm wondering whether the hot weather will mean they will emerge earlier, and how much effect it has on how many there are.
It's usually August/ September for us in Lancashire. Luckily they don't bother me.
They don't bother me too much either usually, but last year was the worst I've ever seen. I came into my room one evening to find the whole place covered in daddys! I had to remove each one individually to make sure I didn't injure any, it took quite a while!
The only time they bother me is when I'm trying to get to sleep and they keep landing on you, I find it very annoying! Icon_biggrin
I have an ingenius tactic to quiten down the daddys in the evening if your trying to get to sleep. Icon_biggrin

Just take a few cups into your room and if you hear one flying about, put the cup over it with a slight gap at the bottom for air and leave it until the morning. It's a lot less effort than having to release it outside!
On the worst nights I don't think I'd have enough cups! Once you have them in a cup though, you can just slide a bit of paper underneath and let it go out the window, then you won't end up with 30 cups across your bedroom floor Icon_biggrin
