This year we've been very lucky in that the neighbours green beans have grown over the fence and partly into our garden, and I couldn't believe how much nicer they were to eat compared with store bought! The freshness really helps, so now I'm thinking of growing more vegetables again.
Anyone else here grow vegetables in their garden? If you do, any advice?

Hi Riana
I grow a little bit of everything - I've tried to make my garden largely edible, mainly so my children can learn about where fruit and veg comes from and how the plants grow. Unfortunately for me most of the produce never makes it into the house but takes a diversion into small mouths!
My advice is to grow a wide variety - so that if something fails you don't get too downhearted because something else will do really well. Last year it was apricots and parsnips, this year sugar snap peas, peaches and cherries. The jerusalem artichokes are also going great guns and I harvested the garlic today which is also looking good (considering the weather).
When I moved in two years ago one of my first jobs outside was to make 3 slightly raised beds - two for veg and one for fruit. I divide each veg plot in two and then have a standard four year rotation.
I only grow what I like to eat - so no sprouts or beetroot for me.
I've grown runner beans and pumpkins before - as they're easy to grow it was a great way to get the children involved in the garden. Oh and we also grew potatoes in an old rubbish bin for a couple of years so that we had fresh potatoes on Christmas Day - that worked quite well.
We've only a relatively small garden and I've not grown any veg (other than herbs) in recent years - but I'm going to make a concerted effort to grow things in tubs next year.
I've seen seeds for "miniature" veg so will try those - has any one else tried them?
We've got a couple of blueberry bushes in tubs but they're not very reliable - think I'll transfer them into the garden this autumn. We've also got a dwarf cherry tree - but the birds always get to them before I get the chance to cover it with netting - need to get up earlier
I won't be growing any sprouts either - but I love beetroot.
It would be great to have an allotment - has anyone here got one?
Good luck Riana
I grow a lot of veg riana it is so much nicer than shop bought.
I have lettuce ,cucumber,toms,radish,beetroot,carrots,sweetcorn,runner beans,onions ,spring onions.
My favourite is the sweetcorn pick them and have them in a saucepan within 5 mins and they are so sweet.
Tomatoes are good in hanging baskets if you dont have a lot of space.
