I wonder if anyone can recommend a good field guide to Fungi in the UK
I know nothing at all about this branch of natural history, but have a site nearby that should allow decent photo opportunities of mushrooms and toadstools. Any links to sites would be equally useful.

regards brian.
the definitive work is mushrooms and other fungi of britain and europe by roger phillips - there is a linked website I believe - best thing though is to join some forays and learn them in the field from an expert
Ty Ranger will investigate the book and website. I will be going on a couple of forays soon i hope.

cheers Brian.
There are several good books about, but buy one with photo's rather than illustrated drawings.

However, having said that, even the photo's on the same variety of fungi in different books can vary. It depends on the soil, weather and various other things as to what they look like in photo's - they can vary so much so be careful if they're to be eaten.
