Amphibian eggs?

Does anyone know what animal/amphibian lays eggs like a clump of smaller frogspawn but in a tree stump? Saw this on a walk the other day and it's not near a pond.

RE: Amphibian eggs?

sound like either something has been removing the spawn or eaten a female frog that was full of eggs or the frogs have got a bit confused! If frogs spawn out of water there will be much less jelly around the eggs.

RE: Amphibian eggs?

Snails eggs are similar-ish to frogs, aren't they? That could be the answer.
